Recent release of Protrekkr 2.7.0 I see happened I was hoping it would solve some of my problems but it did solve some others...

Protrekkr is available in Win32/MAC/LINUX/Amiga & something else as well...

Combining thread as Protrekkr is just a modernized NoiseTrekker... The Dual 303s are still in there, The C Synth is as well, Smart patterns from AXS...

Looks like the 2.7.0 was released like 4 months ago...

Problem I had before was crashing random loading in PTI instruments or samples... It may be a bit improved in 2.7.0 but still there... You might not get that on your machine I am using XP & it happens on them all...

Still there's other areas that have been fixed so getting better...







You can have up to 16 note lanes per track & 4 FX lanes...


The 303s had a note-off bug (would not turn off) You used to have to change to pattern A0 which is NO pattern I guess that's fixed now-


Back in the late 90's & 2000's when Arguru was creating NoiseTrekker he thought the 'smart patterns' of AXS were pretty cool so put them in there & in Protrekkr they are STILL in there-


Developer Franck has added numerous filter types over time some real nice one's too-


You may not know but back when Arguru released NoiseTrekker those a propellerhead jumped on him accusing him of 'stealing rebirth code' which was probably a factor of why he open-sourced it so he could prove he didn't 'steal rebirth code' which is kind of a compliment to the sound quality of NoiseTrekker's 303's... You would think rebirth fanatics would be all over Protrekkr-


Yes, not to forget NoiseTrekker... I use it to make instruments as NTIs work in both but PTIs not...


What I like about current Protrekkr is that you can save & load 303 patterns but in NoiseTrekker they were stored in song file only...

I have a WIP where I use both 303s, it is of course unfinished & lacking polish-

I made over 3 GB of instruments mostly non-loopers but plan on creating more that ARE loopers soon... Don't know about the other platforms you may have to search some sites are not around anymore...

Almost forgot about the Loop Sync Feature... You can bring in loops & sync to tempo which often brings strange welcome outcomes-

OK checking note-off to stop 303s looks like it does work now & apparently was done in version 2.6.6-



If using a version previous to 2.6.6 you will have to stop a 303 by changing to pattern 'A0' which is not a pattern at all...

I guess it's two steps forward & one step back... version 2.7.0 will create PTI instruments but it will NOT recognize them as PTI instruments thus will not load back into 2.7.0!!

Taking same samples into 2.6.2 PTI was made & loaded right back into 2.6.2 no problem... Taking these PTI over to 2.7.0 they loaded & played fine so even though I am using 2.7.0 I still hafta keep 2.6.2 around to make instruments...

Would be nice to have a 2.6.6 or 2.6.7 to try but files get overwritten by newest & nobody keeps any archived...

OK, Good news looks like Dev has fixed the bug now 2.7.0 can make Instruments for itself... That was fast...

Protrekkr & NoiseTrekker can only have up to 16 keysplits max, So you cannot make full-on HiQ instruments but you can do it an octave at a time... So to split every semitone for every note you only need 12 splits per octave...

This is necessary for sounds that have plenty of modulation which sound crappy as hell if you use a single sample or skip 4 splits each with the 'speeding up' & 'slowing down' of the waveform... If it's a wurli, rhodes, bass or such no worries due to uniform waveform you can skip 3, 4 or 6 semitones...

The only disadvantage is that you must switch instruments for different octaves but I have made some & found that by using the same split area you don't hafta switch to different octaves on the keyboard as they use same keys no matter the octave...

Have made a couple so far from moving pad sounds from Spectral, 5 octaves each, each one uses the lower register on the QWERTY which is the 'Z' key to the 'M' key or corresponding ones on the MIDI keyboard, convenient that way...

Plus one can choose how many octaves to load, You might only need ONE!...

Yup, Works pretty good... I underwrite it...

On generator power here in SE KY as hurricane remnants blow through... Not trees blowing over as much as water saturating ground then trees already at odd angle just coming loose & falling over... Lazy power company hasn't cleared under the lines since 2017 many branches laying on lines just waiting...

OK... Just to show an example of the 'Auto-Syncro' function of the instrument Editor... Whereby you can load in LOOPS to be used...

In this case I found an old ACiD construction set of 5 instruments & really a complete tune with no tracking at all (hardly) Plus since I did not compose this I take no credit in it's making as this is just an example of how WELL the function works even though incredibly simple...

You can get alot going even before actual tracking or having to add just bits-bobs...

Strangely the pannings which must be in the ACiD WAVs 'CHUNKS' readout loading into Protrekkr.... Who woulda guessed that?...

No FX were added just changing instrument volumes then last pattern was upped to 128 lines for a fade-out...

BTW... The Bass is actually cutoff a bit short on each 64 line pattern but on the 128 fade-out plays out but it sounds like it's meant to be that way, lucky I guess>>>

OK a few more PTI Instruments these are Multis at 12 samples per octave so brought in at default 'O4' octave range they will use keys Z-M on the QWERTY or same on MIDI keyboard...

If you would like to use the samples in something else just hit the 'Export WAV' & it will be puked out...

There are 132 total samples here to abuse...

Is there an executable for protrekkr somewhere for windows? Must be blind, but all I see is stuff for programmers to build, not point & click installer for a n00b like me
