changing the instrument number ?

Post by forficule »

Hello,
I haven't found a simple way of changing the numbers of the generators (this number is used as instrument number in the pattern).
I am converting oldies xm songs, and I want to use generators instead of samples, my plan is to keep the instrument and notes in the tracker, to delete the sampler and to create a generator with the number of the previous sampler.
It works well with one sample (it gets number 1 ;)), I delete it, create a generator that sounds like my old crappy sample, it gets the number 1, so I keep my old melody in the tracker with a brand new sound ! But how can I do that with old songs with lot's of old samples ?
Thanks

There is two ways to make it.

1)
Try to remove/replace modules in ascending order.
Here is algorithm for example:
* remove module #1; now empty slot #1 available for new modules;
* create a new module - it will be placed to the first empty slot; module with number #1 will be created;
* remove module #3;
* create a new module - will be placed to slot #3.

2)
Use module remapping.
Main menu -> Edit -> Remap
or
Right click in the pattern editor -> Edit -> Remap
