if you've been following this thread, you'll know that i've been working on something for quite some time. well, thanks to the help of numerous people, i finished it! (and learned a lot of things in the process)
you can grab the program here: https://github.com/autumncheney/pixilang-visualizer. there's a detailed readme in the repo, but basically it's a visualizer for wav files, with a spectrum and media images that are shown as well!

update: i increased the ffmpeg bitrate to 50000 (to preserve quality) in ffmpeg_video_export.pixi and delayed the ending slightly to compensate for a bug in pixilang
you can change these to whatever you feel is necessary (or what your system can handle)
