Ultrano Dreamer 1.5 Now Free & FULL Win32 -

Post by WaxingAndWaning »

Back from the dead and from 2003 is Ultrano Dreamer 1.5-

Asked a friend on another forum recently about Ultrano Dreamer & He came back soon saying somebody had contacted the dev & he had made it free now...That was this fall...

Here is the page describing-

http://malrus.de/ultranos-dreamer/

However he calls it 'Utranos' (Apparently a combo of Ultrano & Thanos) which is incorrect...Also Dreamer is not a DAW it's a sequencer...

Vigorously designed after the then successful Reason Ultrano also can create it's own ReFills and import Rebirth Tunes but in a strange complex way...

it has a VST device so can use VST plugins and so far mostly favorable as long as you are trying to load mostly OLDER plugins...

Quite good with CPU-RAM usage just hooks your audio system...

Devices are created just like Reason but there is NO auto-routing...You gotta figure out how to hook 'em up, it's not hard...

Sequencer sector has different layers for different tracks but you can still make as many sequencers as you want...

The sequencers look & operate alot like Reason 2.0...Has Sampler device & Synth device all sound pretty good...

Dev started coding this WHILE STILL IN SCHOOL!...Also today says that in his opinion it wasn't very good & that he makes more off his coffee breaks now than he ever did selling Ultrano...

This is clever stylized coding at its finest really...So far working quite well for me in XP SP3...Think of it as stripped down old Reason for VSTs...

If anybody has problems downloading just say & I'll upload for you myself...

This is in no way SunVox competition and not a Tracker at all but cool-rare old sequencer...

OK, There's been a change in this as the previous page the guy is now GONE!

Another has taken his place you can get Dreamer here>

https://zahrada.svita.cz/en/ultranos-dreamer

Also the two points he discovered are confirmed but you can use many different reverbs via VeloSity VST hoster device>>>

I have recently been testing this so here is some info>>>

The Musashi Synth does a great 303 & beyond & is easier to program than Rebirth's 303s. Same with the Drum Machine>>>

Any VST or VSTi brought in will have pages of knobs that equate to detected GUI controls or internals-
Image

You may or may not have to toggle the 'Dry Mix' button to get a particular VST or VSTi to 'come alive'>>>
Image

If using a MIDI Keyboard the sequencer will record NOTES & VELOCITIES & that's it. For pitch bends or other find the equivalent parameter to automate>>>

I automate by first making sure loop is OFF & that enable automation is ON (it will be yellow) and that you are on song mode and the bars start-finish above the enable automation are the 'sector' you need so it don't go off to infinity. Double-click the 'stop' button to make sure you return to beginning of sequencer then push in the record button, THEN the play button start fiddling a knob or two, STOP hit it twice again, play you will see your knobs turning. There's a deal where it resets the plugs to zero before you start that's all in the HELP.

Making Key-Split Sample Instruments in Akemi Sampler is a love-hate relation. In order to make a refill that is standalone & will work from anywhere Dreamer is placed you must make a refill of the samples then use THOSE samples for the patch making process. You CANNOT use open WAVs in a folder as the patch will be saved with an absolute path to the WAVs, which is useless...

Image

You can add image to refill & text-
Image

To Import Rebirth version 2.0 RBS files right-click on Musashi GUI-
Image

There will be a number of failures but some will come through>>>

You can copy-paste between instances of Dreamer>>>
Image

OK now the Akemi Sampler has an issue>>>

Apparently Akemi has a function that detects if an ALREADY USED sample is the SAME as the one you are trying to place in the split & will choose the one already in place as the winner>>>

Problem is that it does this poorly, If your samples happen to have complexity like harmonics, octaves stacked, heavy flanging or other you will have issues for sure>>>

So simple works but that's it-
Image

Trying other samplers DS-404 works pretty good plus if you got ESC you can convert right to the 404 format. Dreamer remembers the positions & all are good for automation but it won't remember patch so you'll have to load it in everytime but it's a fast operation>>>

By the way, I guess I shoulda added that crappy synthedit VST-VSTi will not pass muster in Dreamer. Haven't had one work right yet in it...

However SynthMaker/Flowstone VST-VSTi work pretty good mostly>>>

Here's a bunch to try-

http://flowstoners.com/quilcom

http://flowstoners.com/flowmates

Some of the old SynthMakers are real good too like Freehand, WaveDraw, Karbass & other you can grab off wayback or search out-

I have also tried Kern & Ragnarok from Full Bucket Music & the were fine so probably more will work as they are C++ not Synthedit crap>>>

Have uploaded some of my Akemi patches & the associated Refills so you have an idea of what works without the sampler 'Mis-Guessing' the pitches of samples coming in>>>

May do a video on making the Refills as it is a necessary evil for making standalone 'portable' refills & patches that work no matter what directory your Dreamer setup is in>>>

If you make a patch & open in notepad & see absolute paths then the patch is a screwed-up poo-bah-

Dreamer's Akemi patch, dude! $0<H` >- ( LLUF S D:\Program Files\Ultrano Dreamer 1.5 FULL\Refills\FRETLESS SLIM\TS 10 FRTLS C0.wav LLUFS D:\Program Files\Ultrano Dreamer 1.5 FULL\Refills\FRETLESS SLIM\TS 10 FRTLS C1.wav LLUFS D:\Program Files\Ultrano Dreamer 1.5 FULL\Refills\FRETLESS SLIM\TS 10 FRTLS C2.wav LLUFS D:\Program Files\Ultrano Dreamer 1.5 FULL\Refills\FRETLESS SLIM\TS 10 FRTLS C3.wav YTPMWWWW

Such a patch will only work if the path to the WAVs is EXACTLY the same>>>

Same Patch done right will look as such-

Dreamer's Akemi patch, dude! $0<H` >- ( LLUF ' FretlessSlim.Refill?TS 10 FRTLS C0.wav LLUF' FretlessSlim.Refill?TS 10 FRTLS C1.wav LLUF' FretlessSlim.Refill?TS 10 FRTLS C2.wav LLUF' FretlessSlim.Refill?TS 10 FRTLS C3.wav YTPMWWWW

This relative path then works anywhere as long as the refills are located in the Dreamer refills folder-

This is same for the CR-1 Drum Machine...

One other thing forget the Filter adjustments unless you are making a song as they are not saved with the patch, only the song-
