Cross-platform Audio Library Recommendations?

Post by com0sus »

Hello NightRadio!

First of all, I'd like to say that you are radical! In that past 6 months or so I've found myself using Sunvox and it's native instruments more than any commercial DAW/VST setup I've used in the past, on both my PC and my Samsung Galaxy S3. Thanks for the hard work and stuff. =D

However, my question isn't really about your sound software but about sound software in general. I'm writing some audio software just for fun/learning and I was wondering if you have any suggestions on dealing with cross-platform audio input/output. Are there any libraries you use/recommend? I'm especially concerned with dealing with setup/interface with audio devices in each operating system. I've looked a bit into JUCE and PortAudio, but I've yet to delve to deeply just yet.

Thanks!

I have also been thinking of doing something myself, but I'm a lousy programmer so it'll probably never happen.
I think I would go with PortAudio since it's free but check out these:
