PR??

Post by SawZer »

I accidentally pressed the "K" key on a pattern and it entered "PR", and was very high pitched. What happened?

It is undocumented feature. With PR command you can set the note frequency manually in the parameter column XXYY.
PR is used for realtime Touch Theremin recording.

so you could do microtonal stuff, like quarter tones etc using this command? what would be A 440 hertz in the xxyy column?

wow, that's amazing !!

this morning, I was thinking to ask for a solution to correct the pitch of a bad singer and PR parameter seems to be the best thing for this (at the moment - maybe in the future, a module that do this automaticaly...).

A table with the correct numbers for the notes on the equal temperament should be very usefull.

you know, sometimes I fill like in a video game where a new cheat code unlocks new possibilities that pushes me to rethink the hole game different.

Thank you for all this "cheats".

So the distance between two semitones is 256 (or 100 in hexadecimal).

thank you !!!

it works very well !
I have to use the 07 effect to re-synchronize sometimes the voice sample on the right place in time, because the PR usage changes the speed of the sample, so, the work is a little long and complex, BUT IT WORKS !!!!

advantages :
a. the voice is more natural (some other apps witch do reTune, reSynthetise the voice and the result may be less natural)
b. the reTune process in nondestructive and can be always reEdited
c. the reTune process is in the sunvox project, so:
c1. don't have to change between apps to reTune voices
c2. it keeps all together - better for backup

hey, thankyou nightradio for the frequency table and thankyou ahornberg for the bohlen-pierce scale frequency table.

I did some reading tonight about equal temperament vs just temperament tuning and found it really interesting:

this video on youtube explained it really well:

"The Sound Of Just And Equal Temperament Demo"

I imagine the keyboard in sunvox is tuned as an equal temperament piano tuning. Is that right?

Anyway, PR command along with the correct frequencies could be used to create music using the just temperament tuning if you wanted to make really pure harmonies and sound kind of medieval...PR command is awesome!

but, if you wanted to record guitar and include it in your music you would want to use the equal temperament tuning as guitar is tuned in that way as well. Most modern music uses equal temperament tuning but I like the just temperament sound. probably never get round to using it, but interesting anyway.

Here is another really interesting youtube video, experiments about the effect of audible frequencies on matter

Cymatic Soundscapes - excerpt

(Speed of sound = 345 m/s = 1130 ft/s = 770 miles/hr)

does anyone believe in the brown note that makes you crap yourself? or know what frequency it is?

ahornberg, I've implemented your scale into a metamodule using the new metamodule note-out features of sunvox 1.9.3... give it a try when you can and let me know how it works for you:
