Timestratch

Post by burij »

Ok, maybe this is completly obvious, but the concept just hited me. You can do timestratch samples by lets play it 12 semitones lower and then ptchshift it back 12 semitons higher with pitchshifter after sampler. you can get really funky sample flipping, for example with vocal samples.

Alex posted a YouTube video (today!) that uses the pitch shifter in coordination with two multisynths in a configuration that brings timestretch to SunVox.

As you can see from the video it works well with the pitch down and up again technique you found.

I had a play with the technique on a breakbeat and it is easy to dial in a sound akin to the timestretch on the akai s series hardware samplers. I already enjoyed making jungle with SunVox, this takes it to another level.

I am bumping this thread as I love this technique and just wondering if others are using it much.

I just finished a tune (happy to post if requested, otherwise won't spam this thread) where I used it on a few elements at the same time. Some directly through the pitch shifter and others parallel processed. Gave the parallel sounds a cool metallicy faux chord sound, but as importantly worked to gel all disparate samples together.
