i've noticed that certain dsp-heavy sunvox projects (like this one) will cause lots of xrun callbacks when i play it in sunvox under jack
this wouldn't be surprising if this also happened in alsa, but it doesn't; alsa runs these types of projects perfectly fine with no hiccups
i've tried changing my buffer settings, to no avail, so i'm guessing it must be my setup
this happens with both 1.9.6c and 2.0 beta2
i'm running parabola gnu/linux-libre
xruns w/ jack not present in alsa

Hm...
Are the JACK and ALSA configs the same? Sample rate, buffer size

Re: xruns w/ jack not present in alsa
/usr/share/alsa/alsa.conf is where alsa's settings live, right? i think so anyway. i'm guessing i can just use qjackctl for jack configuration
looking through alsa's configuration, i barely understand anything in it, and the things i don't understand are probably relevant to my issue
would you mind looking through them for me if i send them here?

I mean ALSA settings in SunVox (device, buffer size, sample rate) and JACK settings in qjackctl
Probably different sample rates, or devices (SunVox uses Pulse audio by default, but JACK uses the audio interface directly)

oh ok
went through qjackctl and alsamixer just now, and i'm sure the settings are the same: 44100 hz, 256 frames/period, sound card set to realtek alc293

There are similar reports from other apps. Sometimes ALSA works better and sometimes JACK. Honestly i don't know why :)
