how does the default eq module work?

Post by AutumnCheney »

i noticed that the default eq module is able to perfectly reconstruct the audio when all of the controllers are at their default values, and yet it's able to actually isolate the mids (unlike the inversion-based frequency splitters i've seen)

so how does it work? i've been like :fool: trying to understand how it works so i can make a version with steeper cutoff slopes

The default algorithm works like this (with minor differences at the code level)

thank you so much!!! it seems that the "isolation" of the mids depends on the steepness and frequencies of the filters... i'll probably have to work out a compromise
