How to do Panning

Post by komdobob »

Hey y'all
im trying to use panning for one of my projects, but I have no idea what I'm doing. When I adjust the panning slider, or input values on the controller in pattern editor, all that seems to happen is the notes getting softer or louder. Can anyone explain how to use panning?
Thanks

The panning slider does exactly what it says.

If it results in a note getting louder or softer, your monitoring system is only giving you one channel out of your stereo pair. (Or, possibly, is doing something incredibly stupid resulting in weird comb filtering behaviour.)

The only time I've experienced that was:

a) one half of my headphones had broken

b) one of my speakers had been unplugged

You should check your system, and if necessary, replace.

It's just possible that the problem is in system software configurations, but you should be able to check that as well.

You have to select Mode HQ. I am asuming you are using the analog generator. If 'mode' is set to MonoHQ(default) the panning will result in volume because it is monosound. You can also use a amplifier to pan your mono signal.

I would actually recommend connecting to an Amplifier and moving the Balance slider around.
