Module properties - relative note question

Post by El Nino »

The range of notes on the Sunvox onscreen keyboard is C0 to B9.
The relative note slider in module properties goes from -128 to +128, where 0 is C5.
Using a value of -128 on the relative note slider should produce the note E (octave) minus 5 (E-5).
Using a value of +128 should produce the note G# octave 15 (G#15).

Does sunvox really go that low and that high?
It would be outside the range of the onscreen keyboard.

Should I avoid going beyond -60 (C0) and +59 (B9)?

(sorry for these kind of annoying questions, I'm just curious).

Actually yes :) But it depends on the module. Try Analog Generator and you will see it can handle the octaves much lower than C0

This extended range is a really nice feature.

I imagine it can be put to use nicely by using the extra low and extra high notes of the analogue generator (accessible through module properties relative note) and feeding the signal into a generator module with frequency modulation input turned up a bit.
O.K, I'm going to experiment with that tonight.
