you know, i do. theyre often too expensive. i prefer ios synths and quirky free stuff

your stuff is intricate and the synth manipulation sounds accomplished. some tricks are best done using trackers i think. it truly is a case of the better you use the tool the better the potential results. i added you but you dont have to add me back lol

I forgot, I also used modplug. Modplug wasn't a bad little app - pretty friendly.

OpenMPT and Milkytracker are fun to mess with from time to time, but I've never completed anything with them

Agreed that sunvox is king of synth trackers.

@organicio

Just wanted to say thanks again for pointing me in the direction of renoise custom wave generator. It is very useful and easy to use.

not a tracker, but the new korg gadget looks like great fun:

The sequencer layout looks very easy to use, I still struggle with trackers compared to the reason/flstudio/ableton style approach.

I've also used deflemask (it emulates all the chips you'd want), klystrack (does C64 sounds), and recently I tried a little with adlib tracker 2.

Edit: http://chipmusic.org/forums/post/198456/#p198456 for the latest windows version of klystrack, if you want the latest one for linux you have to compile it http://code.google.com/p/klystrack/source/checkout (You may need to check the site for the .deb it's older but it shows where klystrack looks for some files. For me even though it compiled it was still looking in the location where klystrack installs so either, recreate those directories and paste those files there or keep the old version installed and make a script to launch the new version.)

No one mentioned Protrekkr? I still use it, it's a great tracker, well at least on Windows.

Awesome interface, if it weren't for that program I never would have given trackers a chance.

The best tracker I ever used was Nitrotracker. It was a really simple homebrew program for the Nintendo DS. It had just enough features to produce a complicated and compelling song and I loved having the Directional pad and buttons to control things. I love Sunvox, but it often feels too robust, the simplicity of Nitrotracker allowed me to compose tracks in no time at all.
