Oh darn it, there's a contest going on?
Who would have known. I'll see if I'll have some sort of idea going on, luckily there's still almost an entire week left :P

EDIT: I will, apparently.

I'm rendering the entries I've received right now and about to upload to Bandcamp. Public URL will not be released until Friday.

Also I want to make a petition, Sawzer... In the next compo like this, can you please remove the part about clipping? I usually keep my levels way below clipping anyway.
Sunvox is not designed for mixing. Unless I'm missing something, to make sure I am not clipping I seriously have to sit here and listen to the entire song and watch the master volume meter which is about 10 pixels high and make sure it doesn't turn red at any given time? It doesn't even have a thing that stays red when it clips... What if it clips when I blink? wtf? IMO this is pointless given the limitations of Sunvox.. Especially the part about "considering the loudness of the track" when judging. I'm sorry, but I'm not taking that into account at all when I listen to other peoples' songs.. I'm simply not. It doesn't matter a bit to me because of what I stated above.

To make your tracks loud, it would be better to do it in a wav editor after rendering. The thing with digital software is there is no signal/noise ratio to worry about. You could have your master volume in Sunvox at 1%, export the song and then normalize it to 0db in audacity and it would sound just fine... Unlike the analog world where if you output your tape deck at 1% volume you're going to have some serious problems :) So IMO it's better to track with the master level way down anyway, to give yourself headroom in case you do need to turn some things up.

But anyway ... Good luck to everyone!

Oh, also wanted to make it clear that I am not doing any post processing normalization on any of the WAV's, due to the nature of the compo rules -- What you hear is straight out of Sunvox.

Well, we have 8 entries so far! Will there be a few more before the deadline?

I'll post the votepack and Bandcamp links tomorrow evening.

I'm quite glad there's a whole week for the voting period, these are all so awesome I have no clue how I'll figure my votes out.

EDIT: Well it took about 3 hours, haha. I'd say that's quite a while.

This is going to be a tough decision! I am really liking what I hear so far.

Also oh my gosh. It's amazing how the first note of Zhuinden's piece fits with CrossBit's.

Well, that took a lot longer then expected. :o I finally got my votes in, and wow! :D All the songs were great, and it took me a while to work out what to vote for, that's for sure. This competition was a lot of fun to work on, and now that I had a deadline, I actually got something done. xD Good luck everyone, I can't wait to see the results.
