Input Module Latency on Android

Post by CLNT! »

I'd like to be able to record samples and monitor them at the same time, but there's a noticeable lag when recording on my Galaxy SIII. While the output buffer effects this lag, but the lowest setting available doesn't remedy this problem. Is there anything that can be done about this?

Can you tell the length of this lag approximately? Or may be record some short video where this problem demonstrated.
Default delay length in SunVox is 50ms for Android version. And not all devices allow to decrease it.

Sorry it took a while, but I recorded it and it seems to be nearly a half second delay: http://soundcloud.com/amor0fati/sunvox-bug/s-xft81

Note that the little echoes are only due to feedback from using the phone's speaker, the lag is present without an echo using a set of ear buds with a mic.

Ok, thank you for this file.
Can you confirm, that the audio output latency (during playback, without Input module) is noticeably smaller on buffer size 1024 or 512? In comparison with 2048.

I think was mistaken on that count, or at least the difference is negligible.

Anyway, i can't reproduce this bug. The lag is much smaller on my LG E510 with Android 2.3.
I will try to test it on some other devices.

Yeah, this is on Android 4.0+ that I've tried it. I hope this wouldn't require rooting to fix, but I have a feeling that's what it would take: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9662 ... n-realtime

Maybe Jellybean will rectify this...guess I'll find out soon.

Ok. I think it is not a bug. Just a feature of particular device. So i move this thread to the main forum.
