4 operator FM

Post by El Nino »

An increase from 2 to 4 operator FM (similar to the FM in adlibtracker 2)

You can layer two FM modules with the Multisynth module. That is the same exact thing as one of the 4 op modes in Adlib Tracker. You can also use two FM modules or a generator and an FM module with the Multisynth and Modulator modules

This is true for OPL 2 capable soundcards but Adlib Tracker supported multiple algorithms for soundcards that implemented OPL 3 as well (not sure about OPL 4 and beyond though).

Hey all! I'm actually working on an extensible 4-Op FM metamodule heavily based off of Ableton's Operator synth.
Here is a prototype, with the algorithm D>C>B>A (in series):

I'd definitely appreciate a 4 operator FM synth with more algorithms than just Carrier -> Modulator. Sure you can stack them, but I would love to be able to further change the sound and I can't get the modulator and generator to get appropriate results. That the FM synth only has 2 operators is currently the only reason I use any programs outside of SunVox.
