looped samples cause export to ignore "stop" effect 30

When exporting a short section of a WIP, I was using effect 30 to stop the export. when it reached the stop effect, the playback cursor stopped but the export kept going to the end of a longer pattern. this is the result.
upon investigation, I found that I had that sample needlessly set to loop.
