Home Studio -> ideas, recommendations ?

Post by justin » Wed May 10, 2017 1:24 pm

I realise this is a bit off topic, ie not strictly Sunvox related, but perhaps I could get some ideas here.

I have been very lucky and have come into £4-5K to spend on a small home studio.

Whilst I love Sunvox one of the biggest problems I have is that I am a professional programmer by trade and at the end of the day, when I have an hour free, I *simply don't want to spend any more time in front of a screen*.

Basically I need some knobs to twiddle ;-)

I love the Kraftwerk / Vocoder sound and am also a big John Digweed fan

So on a whim I bought one of these -

Wow, what an amazing thing! Some really phat sounds. And the kids loved playing with it too!

So now I am on the lookout to expand a bit and buy a few more bits of hardware

I think I will need one of these -

and some speakers to go with it (any recommendations ?)

I am sorely tempted by one of these -

Although this would bust a big part of the budget I am kind of tempted by one of these -

And also like the idea of an iPad with this -

I realise this is somewhat self- indulgent, but if you had that kind of budget and wanted to make those kinds of sounds, what might you buy ?

And yes, Sunvox will be playing a part too :-)

I think for a home recording studio , the best computer I could get. A Mackie Mixer and some of those Rokit Studio monitors. And maybe toss in a Lexicon multi fx. But if you are building a jam out studio, then maybe just a cheap digital multi track and the rest on gear to tweak.

I haven't dabbled with Modular stuff yet, I know I am being drawn into it.
